E-MEMBERSHIP—GOING ON LINE TO ATTRACT NEW ADAA MEMBERS

Delegates attending the 2010 ADAA Annual Conference will have the opportunity to discuss a new membership category being presented by ADAA. This new category called E-MEMBERS is just what it implies.  It is a free ADAA membership category for those individuals who want on line information only.
This category is in the developmental stages and your input and ideas are welcome.

Individuals who participate in this category:

  1. would not be entitled to hold local, state or national office
  2. could not participate in the House of Delegates
  3. would not receive a hard copy of the ADAA Journal or any other ADAA benefits
  4. would be given some type of membership card and have the option of purchasing a membership pin
  5. there is no rebate to the state association
  6. they would receive one hour of free online education each time they renew
  7. do not receive CE discounts

So, what is the purpose of this membership? To attract those potential new members who are living in our electronic world who would join us on line and then learn what they are missing out on by not being a true active member, hopefully enticing them to join as a full ADAA member. MDAA Delegates expressed concern to the 6th District Trustee over the issuance of a “membership card” to those joining as an e-member, stating that it would not be fair that e-members be allowed to attend seminars at a reduced rate like active ADAA members often do as it was felt that it is a benefit of paying dues.

So, what are your thoughts? Contact the MDAA President via email at bgurnee9896@charter.net to voice your concerns or ideas, which are greatly needed to help direct our delegates so they can make an informed and educated decision that best represents you. When making comments please copy our 6th District Trustee Cathleen Meyer-Butler at clmeyer11@aol.com.
