Officer Spotlight

MDAA Legislative Chairman

Lori Barnhart, CDA, R.D.A. FADAA

Lori obtained her education in Dental Assisting from Mott Community College and currently is employed with Douglas L. Schneck, DDS. They have worked together over 22 years (with a break between 2 separate employments) and has been a member of ADAA for 23 years! She has served as our 6th District Trustee as well as numerous officer positions and committees on the MDAA Board of Directors. She was awarded the Mara Lee Albrecht Award in 1999 and 2005 along with the Ruth M. Edwards Award in 1996. Lori shares her home life with husband, Sterling, and son, Sean a 2010 high school grad. Lori is proud to announce that Sean is attending U of M! Her hobbies include answering emails, answering questions, and brainstorming. "Who has time for a hobby?"

She enjoys planning social events for MDAA members "as everyone needs to kick back and enjoy some fun down time after a year of hard work!" We all have experienced the great activities that she has either planned and/or been a part of. Her creativity is evident in everything she does! We consistently look to her for answers to our questions. Lori was presented with her Fellowship in 2009 at Annual Session in Honolulu and is working on her Mastership.

Lori's newest project involves traveling around the state presenting MDAA's plan to add the dental assistant and Certified Dental Assistant into the MI Public Health Code. Thank you Lori, for all of your enthusiasm and hard work!

Her vision for Dental Assistants:

To have all dental assistants named in the Public Health Code.
